Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to create a Solana token?+

0.1 SOL platform fee plus Solana rent costs (~0.007 SOL for mint and metadata accounts) and a 0.01 SOL Metaplex protocol fee. Total is approximately 0.119 SOL. If you mint initial supply, add ~0.002 SOL for the token account. All costs are shown before you sign.

Do I need to upload an image?+

No, but we recommend it. Just drag and drop your logo (PNG or JPG, max 500KB) — we upload it to IPFS and create the metadata automatically. No manual JSON creation or Pinata account needed. Tokens without images still work but won't show a logo in wallets.

Can I mint more tokens later?+

Yes, if you keep the mint authority (default). You can mint additional tokens anytime using your wallet. If you revoke the mint authority during creation, the supply is permanently fixed.

What wallets work?+

Any wallet that supports the Solana Wallet Standard — Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, and others. Wallets are auto-detected, no manual configuration needed.

Is it safe?+

The transaction is built in your browser and signed by your wallet. We never have access to your private keys. The mint keypair is generated locally. Everything is verifiable on Solscan.

Where is my token image stored?+

Your logo and metadata are uploaded to IPFS, a decentralized storage network. Files are content-addressed and pinned to remain available. We handle the upload — no IPFS or Pinata account needed.

Can I update my token name or image later?+

Only if you keep metadata mutable (the default). Mutable metadata can be updated by the update authority (your wallet). If you choose 'Make metadata immutable' during creation, name, symbol, and URI are locked permanently.

What is the difference between SPL tokens and Token-2022?+

SPL tokens use the original Solana Token Program — universally supported by all wallets and DEXes. Token-2022 is a newer program with advanced features like built-in transfer fees, soulbound tokens, and embedded metadata. This page creates standard SPL tokens. Use our Token-2022 Creator for tokens with extensions.

How is this different from pump.fun?+

sØl gives you full control over your token — configure authorities, set custom decimals, upload your own logo to IPFS, and choose metadata mutability. Unlike pump.fun, you own the mint authority and can manage your token after creation.
